In the post-fairy tale era, we all know that the trials of princes and princesses come after marriage, and so does coming out.
What is life like for LGBTQ+ individuals after coming out to their families? Can we embrace or grow closer to our parents from then on?
Or does real life continue with ongoing confrontations with our parents?
This book brings together the collaborative works of 17 LGBTQ+ individuals (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) and people living with HIV. It includes stories of LGBTQ+ children before and after coming out – some are joyful and moving, while others are painful and conflicted. Regardless, they are all real lives existing throughout Taiwan.
The book also includes coming-out reference guidelines compiled by the Hotline's Family Support Group, as well as coming-out resources for LGBTQ+ friends to refer to!
